Supporting the Wild Psyche in Modern Life

I’m on a mission to Support the Wild Psyche in Modern Life.

What does that mean? And, how is it Enneagram-related?

The human psyche is fundamentally wild. Our innate psychological and spiritual capacities evolved over hundreds of thousands of years of living through cycles of sun and moon, summer and winter, ice ages and warm periods.

When we try to heal ourselves without accounting for that fact… well, it’s no wonder we get stuck. If I try to heal myself without also healing the split between my soul and the natural world, I’m only going to get so far. Until I can acknowledge and actively address that wound, there will always be a missing piece.

The Earth herself is calling us back into this awareness. Her suffering is our suffering, caused by the same disconnection between human and more-than-human. And, when we try to heal the Earth without first addressing our separation, just like with our own wounds, our attempts will lack a certain power and intelligence that only comes from the wisdom of the Earth herself.

That’s why it’s so important to practice eco-centric forms of Inner Work. ANY psychological or spiritual modality can be structured to include Nature. And, for 99.9% of our evolutionary history, they ALL did. There was no other way! The Enneagram is no exception. That’s why in my work with my coaching clients, in my free talks, Instagram videos, and retreats, I always offer a nature-based invitation to deepen the Enneagram insights and practices. Not just to “go for a walk in the woods,” but to actively and sincerely, with all Three Centers, engage with the other-than-human world.
