Enneagram Wisdom Circle

A community of practice for experienced Enneagram students

The Enneagram Wisdom Circle is an ongoing community of practice designed to provide a long-term “home” for experienced Enneagram students. EWC is a place for Enneagram students to land when they are done with (or taking a break from) intensive training, but still want to stay “in the work” and connected with others who are also practicing the Enneagram on a regular basis.

Led by two Riso-Hudson Certified Enneagram teachers (Ben Campbell and Jenny Campbell), each EWC session includes a centering practice, an opportunity for students to share recent “wins” and challenges, a short teaching, time in small groups, and self-observation assignments. Each session is structured around a particular topic—see below for some examples.

Session Details

Please note that unlike some other Wild Enneagram offerings (such as Living the Wisdom), EWC is not an Enneagram training program. As such, sessions do not include extended lectures. The aim is to develop conscious community and support each other in our awakening. While each session does include a short teaching on the chosen topic, the topic is intended to serve as more of a “focus point” for our continued inner work—a way to activate our awareness and invite us to look at ourselves from a different perspective.

If you would like to learn about a given topic in more depth, there is always the option of scheduling 1:1 coaching sessions with Ben or Jenny, or learning directly from the source material.

Session 1: The Mystery of Presence

Teachings from Madame DeSalzmann, one of Gurdjieff’s foremost students and one of Russ Hudson’s primary teachers, on the concepts of Presence, Attention, Self-Observation and Self-Remembering. Readings from DeSalzmann’s The Reality of Being.

Session 2: Aligning our Centers

Revisiting the Scrambling of the Centers with the aim of aligning them toward a common objective. Taking into account the distinct needs and potentials of each Type. Readings from The Reality of Being (DeSalzmann) and Understanding the Enneagram (Riso-Hudson).

Session 3: The Inner Critic

How to meet our “inner saboteur” with compassion and curiosity. The “marching orders” of the Nine Inner Critics. Observing how each student’s relationship with their Inner Critic has changed over time.

Session 4: Direction of Integration and the “Heart Points”

Diving into the mystery of the Direction of Integration, with a focus on tending to the “Soul Child” or “Heart Point” of each Type. Readings from Sandra Maitri’s The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram.

Session 5: Ego Development and Childhood Patterns

Studying the foundations of our ego and the nine Childhood Patterns. Observing how these patterns have changed over time. Readings from The Wisdom of the Enneagram (Riso-Hudson).

Session 6: Meditations on the Holy Ideas

Brief overview of the Nine Holy Ideas, in particular their capacity to “undo” our ego-fixations. How each Holy Idea serves as a “mantra” or “koan” to shift our fixated perceptions of reality. References to Facets of Unity (Almaas).

Fee & Commitment:

While EWC is designed to be a community that you can leave and come back to, we do require a three-month commitment at a time. The fee for a three-month enrollment is $240. Please note that sessions are not recorded, so we suggest that you plan ahead to be sure you can attend the majority of the sessions live.

These are all intentional choices designed to create a sense of safety and intimacy in a community devoted to inner work. We have learned that without a clear commitment, the inertia of daily life can easily take over—something that is true for both our personal inner work as well as the work we do in community. For a group such as EWC to be effective, it’s important that each participant recognizes that their presence in the group matters. It makes a difference when you show up!
